The County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) is an important task for any newly elected government. It sets the stage for the government’s development priorities and is a key tool for guiding decision-making.The plan sets out the overall development framework for the county, including an assessment of infrastructure needs, and physical and Social development objectives.
What is the County Integrated Development Plan?
The County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) is a long-term planning document that sets out the vision, goals, and strategies for the County of San Mateo. It was created through a partnership between the County and the cities of San Mateo, Half-Moon Bay, and Belmont. The CIDP sets forth a shared vision for the County and its communities, and provides a framework for coordinated planning and action to improve the quality of life for all residents.
The CIDP process began in early 2016 with community workshops and surveys to solicit input on the County’s priorities. Over the course of several months, the County worked with its partners to develop draft goals and strategies. The CIDP was adopted by the Board of Supervisors in December 2016.
The CIDP contains six goals that address key issues facing the County:
- Enhance economic opportunity and vitality
- Invest in infrastructure and housing
- Promote environmental sustainability
- Increase access to essential services
- Improve public safety
- Strengthen our communities
